Label photographs and text

You choose label photos using the system photo picker or a camera application, or paste label text. Google's bundled ML Kit text-recognition and barcode tools process those inputs on your phone. ML Kit does not send the input images or recognized text to Google for that on-device processing.

When you request an online assessment, Food Jasoos sends recognized or pasted label text, its layout and any scanned barcode to our HTTPS assessment service. This is used to produce the assessment you requested. Avoid including personal information in label photos or pasted text.

A separate confirmation lets you send up to four compressed label photos to our assessment service for an optional closer reading with Google's Gemini API. Ordinary text-only assessments do not include those images. AI readings may be incomplete or incorrect. Google processes requests under its applicable Gemini API terms. The service can also compare a scanned barcode with Open Food Facts; no account is required.

SDK diagnostics and identifiers

ML Kit sends Google device and application information, per-installation identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, feature input/output sizes, feature events and error information for diagnostics and usage analytics. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure. This SDK telemetry is separate from the local image and text recognition.

Food Jasoos generates a random installation identifier and sends it to its own service to limit abusive or excessive requests. It is not an advertising ID or an identifier derived from your name or account. Hosting providers also process network information, including IP addresses and technical request data, to deliver and protect the service. There is no advertising SDK or account registration in this release.

Local records and photographs

Saved assessments, shopping lists, prices and household notes stay in private app storage. Ordinary saved assessment history does not contain photographs. Temporary capture files are removed after handling or cancellation; abandoned temporary files older than one hour are cleaned on a later launch. The app disables Android-managed app-data backup. Clear app storage or uninstall to remove local app data; the app also offers deletion controls.

Our assessment application processes submitted content to return a result; it does not provide an online personal scan-history account or deliberately write submitted photographs to a photo archive. Technical diagnostics and security logs may be retained by hosting and API providers under their policies. We do not promise that platform diagnostic data disappears immediately after a request.

Sharing, permissions and external services

Sharing a saved case opens Android's share sheet. You choose the recipient; that service's policies apply and deleting a local case does not remove previously shared copies. Optional public barcode lookup sends the barcode to Open Food Facts. Source links open external websites when you choose them.

The app uses Internet access for online requests. It uses Android's photo picker and a camera intent rather than requesting broad access to your photo library, contacts, microphone or location. The bundled directory and local records remain available offline.

The main service providers are Google ML Kit, the Google Gemini API for optional photo readings, Vercel for the assessment service, and Open Food Facts for barcode information. These providers have their own privacy policies and may process information in countries other than yours.

Support, retention and deletion requests

If you email support, we receive your email address and what you voluntarily provide. We use it to answer your request and keep correspondence as needed to resolve it and meet applicable obligations. Ask about access or deletion at hello@pocket-fund.com. We may need enough information to identify correspondence; we cannot recover local-only app records from your phone.

Audience and health information

This release is intended for adult shoppers, not children. Food-label findings are informational. Food Jasoos is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
